Utilivate Technologies, an emerging-growth company based in downtown Chicago, is experiencing strong growth in its target areas of Energy Management Services, Management Consulting and Professional Management Services, and Contractor Training and Education.

Utilivate is pleased to announce an opportunity for a part-time Database Specialist Associate at our downtown location. We're looking for talented people who share our passion for operational excellence and have the skills to simply delight our clients.

Assignments would include supporting our internal business operations and e-Business infrastructure; providing project support for energy information management projects; incorporating database solutions into Utilivate's energy management and other projects; and, interacting with existing and prospective clients on behalf of Utilivate Technologies to maintain and grow our customer base. This position is critical to us reaching our aggressive growth goals in 2011 and beyond.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Job Responsibilities/Requirements Include:

  • Define the needs of internal or external customers and set up databases to meet those needs.
  • Administer, maintain, and enhance web-enabled MS Access Databases with Microsoft Active Service Pages (ASP Classic and ASP.NET) content.
  • Administer, maintain, and update the content of public and private web and SharePoint sites.
  • Design and develop tools that will assist energy engineers in determining energy baselines, developing measurement and verification methodologies, and analyzing and quantifying energy consumptions and savings.
  • Familiar with web technologies and experience developing web solutions for clients. Web development experience in classic ASP, ASP.NET, VBScript, and HTML.
  • Experience with relational database technology. Prior VBA experience that can be leveraged to create robust database solutions utilizing Microsoft Access and Excel, and similar database tools.
  • Test the effectiveness of databases, modify and adjust database performance and queries as needed and resolve database problems.
  • Ensure database access and connectivity support.
  • Design, implement and document database back-up and recovery processes.
  • Implements database maintenance and security procedures including adding and removing users, and administering quotas.
  • Team member or leader for database projects

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in information science, computer science, or management information systems; three to five years work experience in database management, development, and maintenance a plus.
  • Microsoft "Office User Specialist" certification a strong plus.
  • Self-starter must be able to work independently and manage day-to-day project activities as well as keeping an eye for major milestones. Solid analytical skills and keen attention to detail. Proactive and results driven.
  • Must be well organized, meticulous and able to prioritize tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team member and relate well with team members, vendors, and customers.
  • Proven leadership qualities with excellent written and oral communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; Microsoft Publisher a plus.
  • Thrive in a challenging and independent work environment. Have an entrepreneurial spirit and the courage to take calculated risks.
