Utilivate is pleased to announce an opportunity for a part-time Database Developer / Engineering Associate for several of our Chicago based projects. We’re looking for talented people who share our passion for putting clients first. Assignments would include serving as the client’s trusted database expert on behalf of Utilivate Technologies. The Database Developer would also work on internal projects to enhance and web-enable selected Utilivate software solutions. The position also calls for someone with a strong background and interest in engineering and who has the interest and ability to successfully complete the CEM (Certified Energy Manager) exam.
This position is also responsible for establishing an ongoing relationship with clients, providing technical consultation on current systems and identifying future efficiencies. The Database Developer / Engineering Associate must also have the ability to foster relationships at all levels of the client organization and to operate independently or as a member of a team. This position is key to us reaching our aggressive growth goals for 2010.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Utilivate needs a multi-talented individual who has a strong background in providing high levels of customer satisfaction as a database developer within an energy management environment such as facilities management, electric or gas utilities, energy companies, engineering or construction, or similar backgrounds. Primary responsibilities would involve database design and development however a strong understanding of engineering concepts and an interest and ability to successfully complete the CEM exam is strongly encouraged.
Education and Work Experience
-
BS in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering with strong database and web development experience. Advanced degrees a plus.

Over two years related work experience. Multiple years experience within both engineering and database / web development a plus.
Job Responsibilities Include
-
Administer, maintain, and enhance web-enabled MS Access Databases with Microsoft Active Server Pages (ASP Classic and ASP.NET) content.

Administer, maintain, and update the content of public and private web and Sharepoint sites.

Assist Energy Engineers and Energy Managers in determining energy baselines, developing measurement and verification methodologies, and Analyzing and quantifying energy consumption and savings.
Specific Qualifications – Database/Web Developer

Familiar with web technologies and experience developing web solutions for clients. Web development experience in classic ASP, ASP.NET, VBScript and HTML is required.

Experience with relational database technology. The candidate must have prior VBA experience that can be utilized to create robust database solutions utilizing primarily Microsoft Access.
Desired Qualifications - Database/Web Developer
- Familiarity of use and the ability to write programming for various Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software packages; ExperVision TypeReader & OpenRTK, ABBYY FineReader OCR, OmniPage.
Specific Qualifications – Engineering

Assist Energy Engineers and Managers in developing energy management strategies, analyzing energy use data, and writing audit reports. Assist in analyzing utility interval data to establish baseline energy consumption and demand response capacity,

Assist Energy Engineers and Managers in performing site surveys, client interviews and facility/plant walk-through,

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Have a strong interest in and understanding of engineering concepts. An interest and ability to successfully complete the CEM (Certified Energy Manager) exam is strongly encouraged.
